DUO KH is highly concentrated, so ingredients can crystallize at cold temperatures. DUO KH should therefore not be stored in cold temperatures.
If crystallization has occurred (for example, during shipment), heat the DUO KH (for example, place it in the bath tub with hot water) and pan it back and forth until all ingredients have dissolved again.
What is Oceamo DUO for?
Oceamo DUO is a system for the simple and effective supply of saltwater aquariums with calcium and alkalinity (KH), the most important building blocks for the growth of stony corals in reef aquariums.
In addition to Ca and KH, DUO also provides the important bulk elements potassium, strontium, boron, magnesium, bromide, sulfate and the trace elements rubidium, iodine and fluoride to create an optimal aquarium environment for healthy growth.
What are the advantages of the Oceamo DUO system?
DUO is very easy to use:It consists of only two components, which are usually dosed in the same amount. DUO does not need to be diluted or dissolved before use.
The composition of DUO prevents an ion shift (at 1:1 dosage)
The pH is raised by DUO,which accelerates the growth of stony corals. By using DUO, the use of breathing lime to stabilize the pH value can often be dispensed with, thereby reducing running costs.
In addition to the "main parameters" calcium and alkalinity, DUO doses many other substances adapted: Strontium, boron, iodine, fluoride, bromide, sulfate, potassium, rubidium and magnesium. As a result, these important water parameters are adapted to the consumption of corals.
DUO dispenses with an organic content: As a result, the product can be diluted as desired,and no oxygen is withdrawn from the aquarium water by the dosage of DUO.
In our laboratory, all raw materials and products are subjected to strict quality control (using ICP-OES and other methods). This allows us to guarantee a consistently high quality of our products.
How long can I get by with one litre of Oceamo DUO?
Oceamo DUO is very productive:10 ml in 100 liters increase alkalinity by 1 °dKH. In an average occupied tank, about 10 ml of DUO per 100 l is needed daily.
An 80l nanobecken can be operated with 1 litre DUO for an average of 125 days.
In which container sizes is Oceamo DUO available?
DUO is available in 1l containers and in 5l canisters. For tanks over 500l we recommend the use of the 5l canisters. Our containers are leak-proof, and the 1000 ml containers are also equipped with a children's safety closure.
How & when should Oceamo DUO be dosed?
DUO can be dosed manually or by means of a dosing pump. DUO KH and DUO Ca should be added with a time delay (at least 10 minutes) at a current-rich point (e.B. technical pool). It is optimal to divide the dosage into several individual portions in order to keep KH and Ca as constant as possible.
Can the products be diluted? Does this limit the shelf life?
For very small basins, it makes sense to dilute DUO before use to achieve a higher dosing accuracy.
DUO can easily be diluted with osmosis water in any ratio, the shelf life is not limited.
How often should KH and calcium level be measured and dosage adjusted?
In the establishment phase (after switching to DUO), we recommend measuring the KH and calcium value every 2-3 days and adjusting the dosage accordingly. Do you need help finding the right dosage? Please contact us, we are happy to help!
After establishment, KH and calcium should be measured 1 x a week.
Do all other water parameters such as boron, strontium, potassium, magnesium, iodine and Co remain in the optimal range due to the dosage of DUO?
Every basin is different, which is why no product can permanently nail all water values to the set point. We have designed DUO to guarantee basic services, making a critical deficiency of these elements extremely unlikely. Nevertheless, the dosage is in an area where unnatural enrichment is not to be expected. We recommend having a seawater analysis carried out in our laboratory every 3-6 months in order to be able to adjust water parameters that are too low to the optimum value if necessary.
Does DUO lead to an ion shift, or to an increase in salinity?
DUO is designed in such a way that all essential seawater components are dosed in an adapted manner so that there is no ion shift.
The dosage of DUO therefore also produces sea salt, which increases salinity. This should be taken into account when changing water.
At the dosage of 1 liter duo, ~8.7 l of seawater should be replaced by osmosis water to keep salinity constant.
Example 1) In a 1000 liter tank, 100 ml of DUO are dosed daily. To keep salinity constant, 1 x weekly 6 liters of pool water should be replaced by osmosis water
Example 2) In a 100 liter basin, 10 ml of DUO are dosed daily. In order to keep the salinity constant, 1 x weekly 0.6 liters of pool water should be replaced by osmosis water.
With which products can DUO be supplemented?
We recommend supplementing the basic supply with DUO with inorganic trace elements and organic nutrients (amino acids, carbohydrates). This supply is ensured by Oceamo Regulator A & O.
